Why
Spain? |
|
Promoted officially as one of the world’s leading destinations for meetings (ICCA research), Spain provides technologically-advanced facilities and an excellent repertoire of hotels. It also appeals weather-wise to business events for a climate offering up to 300 days of sunshine a year. Approximately 40 individual convention bureaux around the country represent a total of over 250,000 guest beds, and some 750 meetings venues. Further options include unique architectural settings ranging from castles to monasteries.
Major selling points for Spain are its exceptional climate; calendar of festivals; remarkable heritage (nearly 40 Unesco sites); together with the uniquely vibrant qualities of its key centres (e.g. Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, and Tenerife in the Canary Islands). In a Spanish Convention Bureau survey, however, an even stronger advantage is ‘the character and friendliness of the people.’ Further plus points for visitors to Spain are 700 nature reserves, 200 golf courses, choice of spas, and a world-famous cultural repertoire that includes Madrid’s ‘Museum Mile’; the Gaudi legacy in Barcelona, and the artistic inheritance both of Malaga and Bilbao.
Flight opportunities to nearly 50 airports, a growing network of motorways, and the planned extension of the high-speed railway service ensure that meetings in Spain can be staged efficiently, and with good access.
